Professor at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Minia University, Egypt. He obtained his Ph.D. in Tourism Statistics and the Tourism Satellite Account in 2010, marking the first doctoral dissertation on this subject in the Arab region. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of tourism studies and research, the development of tourism statistics, and the tourism satellite account, with numerous research papers published in scientific journals.
He has provided many technical consultations in the field of tourism statistics and the tourism satellite account in collaboration with international and regional organizations such as the World Bank, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Statistical Center for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics. His work has extended to many countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Kyrgyzstan.
He also works as an expert consultant with the Statistical Center for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf in the field of tourism statistics and the tourism satellite account, by providing technical support missions to develop tourism statistics in the GCC countries.
In 2021, he received the State Encouragement Award from the Supreme Council of Culture of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the category of economic and legal sciences, specifically for the role of the tourism industry in economic and social development. Recently, he joined the team of experts at the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for measuring sustainable tourism.
